About the Image Saturation Adjuster

The Image Saturation Adjuster runs entirely in your browser. Drop or select an image, drag the Saturation slider between −100 and +100, and click Apply. For each pixel a luminance value is computed with the standard weighted formula gray = 0.299·R + 0.587·G + 0.114·B. Each channel is then pushed toward or away from gray using gray + (value − gray) × (1 + saturation / 100). Positive values intensify color; −100 produces a fully grayscale image. Results are clamped to the 0–255 range. Download the result as a PNG. Nothing is uploaded to a server — all processing happens locally with JavaScript on your device.

How to use the adjuster

  1. Click the drop zone or drop an image file onto it.
  2. Drag the Saturation slider — positive to intensify color, negative to fade toward gray.
  3. Click Apply to render the effect onto the image.
  4. Click Download to save the result, Reset to restore the original, or Clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions

What does the saturation value mean? 0 leaves the image unchanged. Positive values up to +100 boost color vividness; −100 removes all color (grayscale).

What is the output format? The download is a PNG file. This preserves detail and avoids compression artifacts.

Does this tool upload my images? No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

Why use the luminance-weighted gray? The 0.299/0.587/0.114 weights match human perception of brightness, so removing color preserves the same perceived lightness as the original.
